Accident statistics is critical for safety analysis and improvement of roads under the Department of Rural Roads (DRR). At present, accidents on rural roads are directly reported from the Office of Provincial Rural Roads via Thailand Road Accident Management Systems (TRAMS). Such a procedure may result in input errors due to the lack of data verification from the central DRR office. Therefore, the department is currently developing its own Accident Reporting System so that accident database on rural roads can be analyzed and reported. In addition, the accident reporting form has been revised in order to meet user's needs more efficiently. This paper demonstrates the overall process of such improvements, covering accident reporting forms and reporting procedures. Results from this study can be used to develop management system supporting accident reporting on rural roads.
